Amazon KDP Select

Good article from David Gaughran here about the Amazon KDP Select programme.

It seems to me that in the immediate future there will be a struggle for power between distributors. The KDP Select idea is perhaps an opening sally to tie down authors into a fixed plan of behaviour – people always like patterns, familiarity, certainty, even if it’s not in their best interests. Authors will probably have to accept whatever is victorious, but hasn’t that always been so?

Whatever happens, the next few years will be interesting times with much blood in the marketplace. Ultimately, writers will not be immune from the effects of the struggle.

Time for a little loin-girding, then.
