It came as a surprise to me that someone had written a review of my short stories on Smashwords. It was a kind review, too, and I didn’t expect it. Thank you Lisa.
New authors often believe their writing is both great and lousy, simultaneously. I am no exception, but my emphasis is on the latter, so it is nice to be encouraged.

About J.D.Hughes
Disclaimer: The profile photo above was taken when I was (briefly) young and cool.
Writer, director and recovered ne'er do well. Simply delightful, but quite unhinged supernatural thrillers, NORTHMAN & AND SOON THE SONG on Amazon and several short stories, all of which contain The Meaning of Life. Or one of them.
New novel to be published mid 2020, but on current performance might be posthumously...
Likes dogs and probably was one in a past life.
I left a review as well on Smashwords. Enjoyed it! Will read the others and let you know,

Hi JD Hughes, just to say I’ve read your stories on Smash words and enjoyed them – don’t give up the writing, you have a talent. The books are also on Amazon but are not free, why?

Thanks for your kind comments, RWB. Amazon set a minimum price of 99c or 86p in English money and won’t let writers sell for free unless the book is available elsewhere and is lower priced – then they will price match. Mine are free on Smashwords so should be free shortly on Amazon, but I don’t mind if you want to buy them!
Look out for my novel in late January or early February 2012. It won’t be free but I will keep it as low as possible. The novel will be worth the price…if I ever finish editing it.

Thankyou. What’s the novel about?

It is a paranormal/historical thriller with a timeless romance and elements of horror. In other words, cross-genre. But I promise no vampires or werewolves, and you have to be an adult to be allowed to buy it. I will let everyone know the exact details when I get closer to my final edit. Thanks for asking.

Sounds like my sort of thing. I look forward to reading it. Happy there are no teenage vampires!

Glad you like the theme, RWB. I know that there is a huge market for teenage vampire/werewolf writing out there, but there are also plenty of writers supplying it and quite honestly it is not for me. My novel is for adults, with adult themes and a nod to quantum theory.
I am in my final edit now, and it’s going well. When finished it will go to my editor for a process of merciless slash and burn. There will be blood, no doubt mine. After that, copies to my beta readers and if there are no problems then we should be on Amazon and Smashwords in February.
I hope so, since I’ve started a new novel!
